Student Senate

I am involved in my university's Student Senate. My constituency consists of my residence hall. I also serve as the first-ever Senate Librarian (for my university, at least). I became involved with student government last fall, and ... well ... the archives (consisting of student newspapers) are my babies. I love them, I adore them, and I work with them once a week.

Senate sessions normally begin around 8:30 in the evening, and last until 11 p.m. These sessions are only once a week. Meetings don't stop at 11 though; there have been some evenings where we were conducting business almost until midnight. We only stopped because we were kicked out the building.

So what does a tired girl do to keep her mind on the issues?

Knit! The green socks were the first socks I ever made, I used the Thuja pattern from Knitty, with artyarns merino yarn (soooooo luxurious and soft and yay). These were for My Very Dear Friend, aka Jon who recieved the unfortunate conical hat. These were worked on during several Senate sessions.

These lovelies, are my socks. I started them right after I finished the green ones, and I bought Austermann sock wool. My needles were size US 1. Toothpicks are thicker than these babies. So the socks were started in March ... and finished in late July. In my defense, those were tiny needles, and I was working on other projects. A month later, I miss working on those socks. I want to buy another ball of Austermann and spend a zillion years working on a pair of stripey socks. The photo was inspired by the delectable Yarn Harlot, and the impatients are in my parents' backyard. Hopefully the neighbors don't think I'm too knitting obsessed.
