Another upcoming project is for my friend Liss, who was my first roommate years ago when we were doing a musical theatre internship. Her birthday was a few days ago, and I promised to knit her the Besotted Scarf. I need to go through my stash to find just the right shade of pink ... and if I don't have enough of it, to Michael's I shall go and stock up on 2 skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease (what I used for the Irish Hiking Scarf).
I still need to go to the store and pet the yarn I may be using for my fellow librarian's DNA scarf ... if I don't deem it soft enough, I may have to drive some yarn store owners crazy in my quest to find the perfect yarns.
I also realized that his request for two different colors means I'll finally be tackling colorwork in a cabled design. This should be an interesting learning experience.

Package for Ohio!
So it was without much ado that I formatted my memory card, thus deleting all the pictures I took at the New York Renaissance Faire.
However! I finally took pictures of the scarf for my friend in Ohio. I'm mailing it in the morning.
Knitting Specs: Lion Brand Wool-Ease, worsted weight in Black 153. Size 11 needles.

Hiding behind the scarf!

When this baby is finished it too will be packed off and sent to Ohio. Ohio received his hat just the other day, and will hopefully borrow his housemate's camera to send me pictures of him wearing the hat.

Good Movies = Happy Knitting
Did I mention that I spilled water on my iMac's keyboard? Yeah, so on a different computer, which is why this post won't have any pictures of the scarf...
Despite saying I would stray from the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern, I've decided to stay with it. I have the pattern down pretty well, I feel a lot more confident with the cabling, and knitting while watching an awesome movie or TV show? Kickass.
(For those *not* brave enough to click the links, they are Hot Fuzz and Doctor Who [2005, season 1], respectively)

Irish Hiking Scarf
So I knit, and I knit ... and I've done about eight sets of cables. Except I don't want to work on cables. I've been tempted to rip out the whole thing, and start anew, either with a 2x2 rib, or just plain garter stitch.
I'm going to veer off from the pattern. The rest of the scarf will follow the first two rows of the pattern, except for the last, oh, eight inches of so of the scarf. I'll knit (from another ball) the eight sets of cables, and graft them onto the end of the scarf.
So Alex's scarf won't be a mess of cables, and I'll have some sanity.
