Sheep to Shawl
Today was the Historical Society's Annual Sheep to Shawl festival, which featured sheep, a petting zoo, live music, spinners, felters, weavers, knitters, rug hookers, and other crafters. There were various stations around the yard, where children and adults could learn how to weave, card wool, and make crafts.
I spent my afternoon dressed in full 1860s gear teaching people how to weave. By 3:30 p.m., I was dropping ice cubes down my corset as it was at least 75 degrees F, and I was terrified I would pass out.
Mary Susan, from All Good Girls Are Marys was also there, felting! I didn't get any pictures of her, but I do hope your hands feel better!
Additionally, several ladies from the Huntington Militia wandered over, and I do wish I took a picture. Marie was there, lovely as ever, as was another lady who I haven't met before. She was wearing a white quilted woolen dress, and the most jaw-droppingly awesome hat.
Oh. And yes, it is possible to drive while wearing a hoop.

You are a time travelin-hoop skirtin'- female driver! It's awesome! This is the kind of mixed up bricolage and contrasting imagery I try to insert into my music....a jazz chord progression smack in the middle of a house track that has classical sonata bones. I love to layer historic forms into pop music. You live the way I compose! Bravo Miss Kate! I look foward to reading more of your modern historic adventures! Thread an ice cube into that corset and let's go. I'm inspired!
